Demystifying the art of Design for Manufacture

ARRK tooling support team

Do you know the difference between an “up and away” and a “lifter”?  Do you know what the difference is between a “side core” and “a slider”? Answer to both questions is ……none! They’re the same.

However, if you work with ARRK to source your tooling and moulding requirements, we will sort this for you. ARRK will help guide you through the Design for Manufacture process, helping you to avoid common pitfalls, and ensuring your part can in fact be manufactured. We can run DFM analysis, feasibility’ studies to validate the geometries involved to make the tooling as robust and cost effective as possible and help guard against costly issues further down the line.

Want to know if your design can be manufactured, but not ready for parts? Or just want an expert to cast their eye over your design?

ARRK’s Tooling team can review your CAD design and carry out checks, part geometries and tool reliability. It’s well worth getting DFM input as early as possible in the design phase to save you time and money later.  Then when you are ready to proceed with your Tooling and injection moulding, you can be confident knowing that you’re ready to go.

Of course, the best time to assess any design is during the prototyping phase, which ARRK can also help you with. Our Prototyping advisers can also liaise with the tooling team to co-ordinate the smooth transition between the two phases.

From Startups to large OEM’s, ARRK’s team of project advisers have a vast amount of experience helping clients from a wide range of industry backgrounds to get their project moving.
