JOB TITLE
CAD/AM ENGINEER -
LOCATION
GLOUCESTER
Description
- Supports all production departments onsite, through the preparation/modification of customer CAD files for the intended production process
- Has a particular focus on the SLA, DLP, MSLA and FDM
- Assists project coordinators, by assessing the viability of customer CAD files with additive manufacturing technologies available onsite. In addition to the operation and maintenance/calibration of these AM technologies.
- Review customer CAD files to assess their suitability for SLA, DLP, MSLA or FDM additive manufacturing processes, and provide build time estimates to project coordinators and production scheduler
- Modify and fix customer CAD models for manufacture using the following software:
- Materialise Magics – for triangulated mesh models (STLs)
- Autodesk Powershape or PTC Creo – for BRep Models (STEP, Parasolid etc)
- Prepare customer CAD files for additive manufacture through part orientation, support creation and Slice setup.
- Create fibre strategies for the Markforged FDM process, which will provide the required strength/toughness for the given part application
- Repair / modify parts in preparation for SLS manufacture
- Start, monitor and unload multiple AM machines
- Remove supports, wash and cure DLP parts ready for the finishing process
- Working on a weekend rota basis to cover the unloading/starting of AM machines
- Perform minor machine maintenance and calibration on multiple AM machines
- Support the PU (polyurethane) department through the creation of tooling insert CAD models. Modifying customer CAD models in STL format, to create suitable SLA masters for the PU production
- Create 2D DXF/DWG CAD files from 3D customer CAD models, for vinyl sticker and transfer applications
- ND or degree in a CAD/CAM, industrial design or engineering field
- Parametric or/and surface CAD modeling experience
- Interest and comprehension of 3D printing
- Capable of reading engineering drawing dimensions, tolerances, and requirements
- Excellent communication skills, good team worker, flexible and able to work in a rapid work environment
- Excellent timekeeping
- Implement improvements based on feedback from production departments
- Experience in Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing

Finishing the part:

JOB TITLE
CNC MACHINIST -

Description
- CNC machining of tooling for composite component manufacture using epoxy boards, carbon composite parts and jigs and fixtures
- Additionally working with aluminium, steel and other metals for a range of components currently being manufactured
- Ensuring that the correct speeds/feeds and optimum machine / operating practices are being adopted at all times
- Ensuring that the program cycle time is consistent with the time quoted for the job and having the ability to run left and right-hand parts simultaneously where required.
- Holding a full understanding of component set-up by the use of holding/turn-over fixtures or plates with the ability to set up in a timely manner
- Ensuring the accurate measuring of tooling and components using micrometers, verniers etc. where required
- Responsible for running machines to maximum efficiency and ensuring that free running is optimised whenever possible. If operating more than one machine, ensure that spindle time is maximised in line with the priorities set
- Focussing on continuous improvement and ensuring that any information that will improve future processes is provided to management / CAM programmers if appropriate
- Coordinating with the CNC Team Leader to highlight required parts, material block ups or other materials and support required to ensure the job timing can be achieved
- Maintaining high standards, keeping machines & surrounding areas clean and safe
- Having a good understanding and ensuring preventative maintenance is carried out on the machines being operated
- Flexibility to assist with any other reasonable task within any area of the Nuneaton site
- The ability to read drawings would be advantageous to aid the manufacturing process
- Fully trained in the use of all types of CNC machines fitted with Heidenhein controllers, Siemens and Mazatrol control
- An excellent understanding of machining technology, setting machines and working to tolerances
- Time served machinist with experience working in a manufacturing machining environment would be an advantage
- Tooling being manufactured is more for bespoke projects and not production orientated
