When the owner and entrepreneur of No Fuss Fill approached ARRK for assistance, we were only too happy to help. No Fuss Fill is an innovative company that sells “Products that make life easier and more fun for dogs and their people,” to quote their own phrase.
The company was planning to introduce a new product to its range and needed a series of prototype parts that could be used in upcoming field trials. The client wanted to gain valuable feedback from their focus group on their product’s performance before committing to hard tooling and mass manufacturing.
With the client eager to get things moving, they consulted ARRK, following a third-party recommendation, and started talking with one of our project advisers in Teesside. Having discussed how the parts would be used with the projects team, No Fuss Fill ordered 20 sets of PU (polyurethane) castings in resins that simulated their intended PP and TPE production materials. With 5 different components making up each set, ARRK quickly produced SLA masters for use in the silicone tools. Once the tools were created, the masters were removed, and PU material was poured into the cavity in the vacuum casting process.
An initial “first off” set was sent to the client for approval before the remaining 19 sets were cast, finished, and despatched, all within a few weeks. We’re delighted to report that the parts performed well during the trials allowing the customer to validate their design. Now confident that their design was good, the customer proceeded to the production process of injection moulding.
